Benjamin L. Cashwell is a Senior at Sanderson High School in Raleigh, NC where he is a leader on and off the field. As co-president of the Equity Team, he helps organize school equity fairs and regularly presents to groups on equity and inclusion topics. He also serves as a student representative on the WCPSS Steering Committee, working to create a county-wide equity framework. A proud member of the Coharie tribe of NC and Wake County representative on the NC Native American Youth Organization, Ben strives to promote awareness around indigenous issues in these spaces and others.
He is a Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) officer, member of the student council, captain of the varsity football team, and participates in the Academy of Finance. He excels academically resulting in his appointment as Chief Marshal for the class of 2024 and induction in the National Honor Society. He also earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors for football his Junior year and placed in the top ten at DECA State competitions his Sophomore and Junior years.
Ben is proud to have organized and produced the first Senior Talk competition at Sanderson High. Seniors were invited to write and present a 6-minute speech on a topic they were passionate about for an opportunity to win financial awards for a total of $1,000 in prizes.
Ben has enjoyed theatre for many years and as a National Thespian Society member, participates in community and school productions. Most recently, he was the MC in the musical Chicago, earning him the Best Supporting Actor award for the show.
Benjamin lives in Raleigh with his parents, David and Pam Cashwell, and his older brother, Samuel.
