Just shy of 18 years ago, I became a part of the staff of WakeEd Partnership. After working with four Presidents, two interim presidents, and numerous colleagues in WakeEd’s last 18 years, I have chosen to resign effective May 31 as Vice President of Development in order to pursue a new opportunity that has come my way.
My new opportunity’s name is Gibson Alan Hunt, who is my first grandchild; and on June 1, I will become his nanny. What an opportunity that this new grandmother just cannot refuse!
I wrote to Steve Parrott in my official letter of resignation:
Thank you so much for almost a full seven years of working alongside you. And for just shy of 18 years at WakeEd, I am most fortunate to have worked with some excellent colleagues, donors, community leaders, Board of Directors and Leadership Council members, and have had so many, many opportunities to grow and develop in my career and professional life.
WakeEd will forever be a part of who I am. I am grateful to each of you for the gift you have given me of the privilege of knowing and working with you, for you have certainly helped shaped me.
This is indeed a humble, proud, and grateful ending to the WakeEd chapter of my life! I thank you for being a part of it.
With my deepest gratitude,
Fran Carruthers
