Dr. Valerie Brown Schild dedicated her life to the students of the Wake County Public School System. During her time in local schools she worked as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, consultant, and a volunteer reading instructor at Brooks Elementary. Valerie’s contributions to education continued outside of the school system as vice president of Wake Education Partnership and director of the Kenan Fellows program at North Carolina State University. Valerie earned a master’s degree in education from Meredith College and a doctorate in education, curriculum and instruction/literacy studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Valerie is honored posthumously after passing away in March 2015. Throughout her life, she helped countless elementary students in Wake County learn to read and write.
Dr. Valerie Brown Schild was inducted posthumously into the Wake County Public School System Hall of Fame in 2015.
