Five Wake County business leaders were selected this week to serve as the newest members of Wake Education Partnership’s Board of Directors. Those selected for the three-year appointments are:
- Jeffrey Bane, national dean of The Chef’s Academy.
- Angela Hampton, Community Affairs Specialist at ABC 11
- Doug Hornberger, Managing Director, Raleigh Complex, Merrill Lynch Wealth Management.
- Dana Yeganian, lead for Capstrat’s client services team
Rob Buhler, president of MMI Public Relations was selected to fill the remaining term of MMI CEO Patty Brigugliothrough June 2014.
As national dean of the Chef’s Academy, Jeffrey Bane is part of the Culinary Division of Harrison College, a 110-year-old, nationally accredited institution that offers 40 degree programs in five schools of study. Located in Indianapolis, The Chef’s Academy opened a second academy with a 4.37-acre campus in North Carolina’s Triangle in August 2011.
Angela Hampton is the Community Affairs Specialist at ABC 11. After 20 years in the news business, she shifted her responsibilities at ABC11 to focus on the community and building partnerships with a wide range of non-profits in the region. In her role as Community Affairs Specialist, Ms. Hampton also hosts Heart of Carolina Perspectives on Sunday mornings and reports on special events for Eyewitness News.
Doug Hornberger serves as Managing Director for the Raleigh Complex – Merrill Lynch Wealth Management (Bank of America Corporation). He began his career with Merrill Lynch in 1981 as a Financial Advisor in Philadelphia. After being promoted to management in 1990, Doug held positions in Cleveland, Delray Beach, Fla., and West Palm Beach, Fla., prior to moving to in 2000.
Dana Yeganian leads Capstrat’s client services team, overseeing the communications firm’s practice areas in public affairs, technology, health care, energy and professional services and leading the firm’s work with Duke Energy. She has had two stints at Capstrat, the first from 2000-2003, where she worked on health care, energy, insurance and nonprofit clients. She returned to Capstrat in 2007 after working at Progress Energy. She started her career as a policy analyst and press assistant for Gov. Jim Hunt, focusing on education and early childhood issues
As president of MMI, Rob Buhler is responsible for expanding the firm’s divisions, implementing new technologies within the firm, building infrastructure to sustain growth and leading business development. Before joining MMI Public Relations, he owned and managed the world’s largest corporation of vintage Chrysler auto parts in Massachusetts. Prior to his work in Massachusetts, he worked for a public relations and lobbying firm in Washington, D.C.
Buhler’s term at the Partnership begins immediately. The other four members will begin their terms July 1.
