Caroline brings ten years of effective teaching and educational leadership experience to WakeEd. She began her teaching career as a member of the Teach for America corps in Milwaukee, WI serving at school for Hmong refugees and immigrants. In 2014, she returned to WCPSS and taught at Stough Mandarin Immersion Magnet Elementary School where she was honored as her school’s Math Teacher of the Year for her promotion of creativity and inquiry-based learning in math. In 2017, Caroline relocated to Washington, DC to teach at Two Rivers Public Charter School, an Expeditionary Learning school focused on a community-based, interdisciplinary approach to learning. She returned to Raleigh during the pandemic and spent the past few years teaching at York Elementary where she was selected as her school’s 2022-2023 Teacher of the Year. She has served as School Improvement Team representative, Superintendent Teacher Advisory Council member, equity committee chair, and restorative practices advocate. 

She earned her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Appalachian State University and Masters in Education from Alverno College. Caroline was born and raised in Raleigh, attending all Wake County Public Schools: Hunter, Ligon, and Enloe.
