I’m pleased to announce that our annual Stars of Education Dinner/Gala, presented this year by PNC, will take place on October 12 at the Raleigh Marriott City Center. This event celebrates and honors educators, business volunteers and community leaders who form the backbone for a strong school system in Wake County. We’re expecting another sold-out event this year with more than 400 guests including educators, elected officials, business leaders, community volunteers and individuals passionate about our school system.
Join us for a reception and dinner as we celebrate and recognize the recipients of WakeEd’s 2016 Teacher Innovation Grants. In addition, we will be inducting the 2016 class of honorees into the WCPSS Hall of Fame. These honorees include the late Richard Murphy (Education), Orage Quarles III (Business), Bob Rankin (Arts), Bob Catapano (Athletics), Wanda Denning (Community) and the late Nancy Olson (Entrepreneurship).
The prestigious Vernon Malone Friend of Education Award will be presented to Judge Howard Manning Jr.
This year will be extra special, as we present our highest award – the Dr. Robert E. Bridges Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. Bill McNeal. WakeEd has only presented this award three times, and it is given to an individual who has dedicated his or her life to improving and creating an unmatched impact on public education.
A reception will be held starting at 5:00PM, and will be immediately followed by the program and dinner from 6:00PM – 8:00PM. You can purchase a host table sponsorship now by contacting Fran Carruthers at fcarruthers@wakeed.org or 919-780-5207.
Tickets can be purchased at 2016 Stars of Education Tickets.
