The Academic Standards Review Commission is still at work.
Recently they hosted teacher focus groups in Raleigh, Wilmington, Pembroke, and the Sandhills region. The goal is to gather teacher feedback on the how the Common Core is affecting curriculum and classrooms. That’s good news; they are listening to teachers.
You can find a list of focus questions/topics for those focus groups here.
One final focus group remains: October 15 at the Moore County Schools Central Office from 3:00-5:00 PM.
The Commission meets again on October 19 to consider its recommendations and move toward final outcomes. WakeEd will keep you posted as these become available.
The Commission is scheduled to complete its work by the end of 2015.
